PEAK Surgical Names John Cifarelli Vice President, Sales

PALO ALTO, Calif. (April 15, 2008) – PEAK Surgical, Inc., a medical device company that is developing a new category of tissue dissection systems based on a proprietary technology, has selected John Cifarelli to establish and lead the company’s sales team as its vice president of sales. Cifarelli and his team will sell the company’s PEAK® Surgery System once the pre-market notification (510k) has been cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

“John is a seasoned medical device executive with more than 20 years in the industry. Not only is he a proven leader, having managed sales, marketing, field engineers and customer service groups, but he also has developed key partnerships that have maximized product revenue,” said John Tighe, president and chief executive officer of PEAK Surgical. “We are confident that John will help us create and grow a top-notch sales force with the experience necessary to quickly commercialize our PEAK Surgery System.”

Cifarelli joins PEAK Surgical from NeoGuide Systems, Inc., a developer of technology to prevent and treat colorectal cancer, where he served as vice president of sales. Prior to that, he was executive vice president of sales and marketing for CDx Laboratories, Inc., a specialty pathology laboratory focused on gastroenterology and otolaryngology. Before joining CDx Laboratories, he spent 18 years at Olympus America, where he held several positions, including vice president and general manager of the Surgical Products Group. In that position, he created strategies that resulted in significant growth and profitability.

Cifarelli began his career as a sales representative at C.R. Bard in the urology division and at the 3M Company. He has consulted for several medical device companies, developing business plans, sales channels and marketing strategies. He holds a bachelor of science degree from Marist College.
